colours of my city

a grade of colours are witnessed in a year

in a metropolitan city like mine

in january you’ve got whites and tri-s

and every bright colour on the radii

in february it’s predominantly red,

for some reason we can’t look past st valentines head

in march you’ve mainly got some yellows

it’s the start of religious new years of our fellows

in april, may and june

we see shades of red and blue

july, august, september,

a splash of colour returns

with parades and fire we welcome october

we light lamps and decorate our houses forever

in november we patiently wait for christmas

spread cheer in red, green, white and bliss

but as we reach the end of the year

we return to our one stagnant colour

the dull gray sky scrapers we surround

watch us try to live life despite us being hellbound
